No drilling, no filing
A removable grill slides over your natural teeth like a fitted cap. We take an impression, pour a stone model, and build the grill on that model, so your teeth are never altered. That is very different from permanent gold crowns, which a dentist fits after reducing the tooth.
If anyone offers to file your teeth down for a grill, walk away.
Where the real risk comes from
The American Dental Association has cautioned that wearing grillz for long periods can trap food and bacteria against the teeth and gums. That is a hygiene issue, not a metal issue — and it is avoidable.
Base metals and cheap plating can also irritate gums or cause allergic reactions. Solid gold and sterling silver are far better tolerated.
Habits that protect your teeth
Brush and floss before putting your grill in. Take it out to eat. Never sleep in it. Clean the grill after every wear with a soft brush and mild soap. If your gums feel sore or the fit changes, stop wearing it and talk to us and your dentist.
A good fit matters, too. A custom-molded grill sits snugly, so there is less space for food to collect than with a loose one-size piece.
Who should talk to a dentist first
If you have active cavities, loose teeth, gum disease, braces or recent dental work, get those addressed before ordering. A grill should go over healthy teeth.
